The Native Americans, the first humans to colonize, populate, or settle the Americas, were also the first people to start North American agriculture and with it, most notably, the growing of corn.  In fact, many Native tribes and cultures from as far west as the Dakotas and as far east Pennsylvania and all the way from Mexico to Canada all revere, honor, and respect the cultivation process of growing corn.  While most of just picture corn on the cob as a yellow and white sphere often lathed with butter, the native peoples of North America used corn as basic staple crop and some derivative of corn was used as the base of almost all their foods.  From tortillas to flours like masa harina and others, corn was the fuel that powered the Incan, Mayan, and Aztec cultures and continues to be the primary crop raised and grown in North America.
