I have always seen signs in window, or ads in papers about selling your jewelry for gold or silver, but have not ever learned how the process occurs. Just lately, I began to take more of an interest since I am looking into ways to supplement our income since my husband has had his hours reduced. I guess you would need to first find out the elements involved in evaluating the value of gold. A state exchange such as the Indiana Gold Exchange would be able to provide at least a benchmark of the worth of 18 K or 24 K gold, or the worth of silver and its grades.
